5 Best Places To Visit in 2019 According to Travel Insider
Travel Insider has put together some of the up and coming destinations for 2019. While they may not be ones you naturally think of when you plan your getaway, they are definitely worth checking out.
This town is located 456km away from Tbilisi. Being 1500 meters above sea level, this city has become one of the main starting points for hikes and excursions. But hiking up to the glaciers is not the only thing you can do there. In Mestia, away from the tourists, you can indulge in beautiful Georgian cuisine, take a trip to amazing lakes and learn more about the Georgian history at the Svaneti Museum. Experience the same breathtaking scenery as you would in Switzerland or New Zealand but at a fraction of the price.
Perhaps slightly biased, but our personal favourite is Leeuwarden, Netherlands. This city has been named the European Capital of Culture of 2018. The locals are so eager to show the visitors what exactly is so special about Leeuwarden, that they set up a scheme called Leen een Fries, where you can borrow some time from a local to show you around all the best spots in the city and tell you a little more about the history too. Visit the 19th-century prison museum, get a feel of Leeuwarden’s art at the Fries Museum, or visit an exhibition dedicated to Leeuwarden’s famous former resident – Mata Hari.
To start with, Kigali is one of the few places where you can still see while mountain gorillas! The local National Park Akagera is also a home to lions, elephants, buffalos and leopards. So if you’re looking for a wildlife adventure – Kigali is for you. Kigali is a thriving, welcoming city and you should definitely consider it next time you want to visit East Africa.
Nusa Penida, Indonesia
Indonesia is of course a thriving, popular destination. Bali is constantly overflown with travellers. And that’s exactly why Nusa Penida is a place for you if you want to escape the crowds but still spend some time in the paradise. You can visit The Pura Goa Giri Putri Cave, soak up the sun on the Atuh beach, refresh in the beautiful Peguyangan Waterfall, or take a hike up to the Kelingking “T-Rex” cliff (in the photo).
Wadi Rum, Jordan
The Jordan’s Wadi Rum desert is a perfect location to experience the night sky. However, during the day the sights are no worse. You can make your way to one of its high peaks where at over 6,000 feet above the ground you can see the Red Sea and even the Saudi Arabian border. If you want to feel like you are on another planet or on a movie set, head to Wadi Rum. You won’t believe the sights you are seeing.
