- The Wellenflug: The chain carousel is a classic and therefore a must at this fair. What's special about the Wellenflug are the uphill and downhill rides simulated by a wave-like spinning motion.
- Menzels Münchner Zugspitzbahn: Here you also sit in one of many gondolas that swing freely sideways and are therefore movable. All the gondolas swing in a circle and your ride will be a rapid up and down.
- The Krinoline: Another classic is the crinoline, a carousel with brass band from the twenties. It is the last original of its kind and can only be found at the Munich Oktoberfest.
8. What should I wear to Oktoberfest?
You've probably already guessed, but to have a real, unique Oktoberfest experience, of course, you have to come in traditional costume, called Trachten. For men, this is usually leather trousers (Lederhosen) and a white or checked shirt. For women, there is the Dirndl, a traditional dress that is still worn a lot in typical Bavarian regions.
When wearing a dirndl, there are a few rules you should follow as a woman. Namely, where you tie the bow of your apron has significance:
- Left: You are single
- Middle Front: You are a virgin
- Right: You are taken
- Middle Back: You are widowed
