Planning a girls' trip and trying to agree on where to go is half the battle. We've put this guide together to make that bit easier: 15 destinations sorted into cheap, classy, and easy short-haul weekenders, with flight times from London, group-friendly stays for each, and a quick table at the end to help you shortlist by occasion (hen do, 30th, wine focus, beach focus, and so on).

If you're planning a milestone birthday trip, we've also put a Flightgift voucher pick at the end for groups who can't agree on a destination yet.

How to plan a girls' trip

What's the best time of year for a girls' trip?

girls on a girls trip

It depends on the destination. For a summer beach trip, the Greek islands and Costa del Sol peak in June and September (cheaper and quieter than July–August). For a city break with Christmas markets, Krakow, Bordeaux and Newcastle are at their best in late November and December. For winter sun, the Canaries and Dubai are the only realistic options between December and February.

How long should a girls' trip be?

For UK weekenders (Newcastle, Glasgow): 2 nights is enough. For European short-haul (Krakow, Porto, Lisbon, Costa del Sol): 3–4 nights. For long-haul (Singapore, Miami, Dubai): minimum 6 nights to make the flight worthwhile, ideally 7–10.

How to book group accommodation

girls in a hotel on a girls holiday

For groups of 4 or more, an apartment or villa is usually cheaper per person than separate hotel rooms and gives you a shared space for evenings in. For groups of 2–3, a hotel with twin-bed options or interconnecting rooms is simpler. We've named a stay for each destination below and pulled a mix of apartment-style and hotel options.

How to plan activities everyone will enjoy

girls eat pizza on a food tour on a girls holiday

Build the trip around 1–2 anchor activities everyone agrees on, then leave the rest of the days unstructured. The most common reason group trips go wrong isn't disagreement, it's over-scheduling. Block one morning, one afternoon and one evening per day, leave the rest free. Splitwise handles the money side: everyone adds expenses through the trip and it auto-calculates who owes what at the end.

How to budget for a group trip

Agree the total nightly accommodation budget per person before booking anything. The fights start when one person assumed £80 a night and another assumed £150. Get that decided first, then everything else follows.

What clothes to pack for a girls' trip

girls holiday clothes ideas

Pack for the destination's actual climate, not the destination's reputation. Bordeaux in October is cold and wet, not all golden vineyards. Singapore is humid year-round, not just hot. The four shops most useful for filling gaps before a trip:

  • H&M, basics and beachwear at low prices
  • Zara, going-out outfits without the designer markup
  • ASOS, strong for fast next-day delivery before a trip
  • Vinted, second-hand if you're after one statement piece

Cheap girls' holiday destinations

1. Costa del Sol, Spain

costa del sol is one of the best places for a girls holiday

Great for: beach + nightlife on a budget
Flight time from London: ~2h 50min direct to Malaga (LHR, LGW, STN, LTN). British Airways, easyJet, Jet2, Vueling and Wizz Air all fly the route.

The Costa del Sol works for a girls' trip because it has the resort infrastructure of Ibiza at roughly half the price. Marbella has the beach clubs (Nikki Beach, Ocean Club), Benalmadena has the cheaper bars and the Selwo Marina, and Malaga itself is genuinely worth a city day for the Picasso Museum (free for under-18s) and the restored Roman theatre next to the cathedral. Andalusia charges no regional tourist tax in 2026, which closes the price gap further.

Most beaches are free. A sunlounger and umbrella runs €5–8 a day. A typical menú del día lunch is €13–17 a person including a drink, and beach-club day passes start around €30 in Marbella and €15 in Benalmadena.

Where to stay: for a group of 4–6, a beachfront apartment in Benalmadena or Fuengirola works out cheaper than a hotel. For 2–3, Hotelgift has hotel options across Marbella, Torremolinos and Malaga centre from around €100/night.

Gran Hotel Miramar Malaga

2. Newcastle, England

Great for: a UK weekend with a proper night out
Travel from London: ~3 hours by LNER train direct from King's Cross, from £40 each way booked in advance. Newcastle Airport also has direct flights from most UK regional hubs.

Newcastle is the budget UK option that doesn't feel like a compromise. The Quayside has been redeveloped well, the bars on Osborne Road in Jesmond are where locals actually drink, and a night out costs around half what the equivalent night in London would. Tynemouth Beach is 25 minutes by Metro from the centre and is genuinely a beach you'd choose to visit, not a fallback.

Eldon Square covers the high-street shops, Grainger Market does the indie/vintage end, and brunch at Quay Ingredient or Pink Lane Coffee runs about £10–14 a head. Day trip option: Alnwick Castle (45 min by train) for the Harry Potter filming locations, or the Northumberland coast for Bamburgh.

Where to stay: for a group, a serviced apartment near the Quayside or in Grainger Town. For pairs, Hotelgift's Newcastle options include central hotels around the Quayside from £90/night.

Rydges Newcastle: With a stay at Rydges Newcastle, you'll be centrally located in Newcastle, a 3-minute drive from Newcastle Beach and 10 minutes from John Hunter Hospital. This luxury hotel is 9.5 mi (15.2 km) from Lake Macquarie and 0.1 mi (0.2 km) from Newcastle Museum.

3. Rhodes, Greece

rhodes in greece is one of the best cheap friends trips

Great for: a beach week with nightlife
Flight time from London: ~3h 50min direct to Rhodes (RHO) from LGW and LTN, May–October only. Outside summer season you'll route via Athens.

Rhodes is the cheapest of the major Greek islands for a group, mostly because it has more hotel inventory than Mykonos or Santorini and isn't a fashionable name. Faliraki has the party strip (Bar Street is the loud option, the beach itself is wide and family-friendly during the day). Lindos, 50 minutes south, is the photogenic side: white-cube houses on a hillside under an Acropolis. Rhodes Old Town is a UNESCO site and worth a half-day for the medieval walls and the Palace of the Grand Master.

A taverna meal with mezze and house wine for four runs €60–80. Sunbeds on Tsambika or Anthony Quinn beach are €10 a pair.

Where to stay:

Sperveri Boutique Hotel: With a stay at Sperveri Boutique Hotel, you'll be centrally located in Rhodes, a 2-minute drive from Rhodes Port and 15 minutes from Ialyssos Beach. This hotel is 8 mi (12.8 km) from Water Park Faliraki and 8 mi (12.9 km) from Faliraki Beach.

4. Glasgow, Scotland

hydro in glasgow is great for a cheap girls trip in the uk

Great for: live music and a UK city break that isn't London
Travel from London: ~4h 30min by Avanti West Coast direct from Euston, from £50 advance, or 1h 25min flight to Glasgow Airport.

Glasgow is the live-music capital of the UK by a clear margin. King Tut's Wah Wah Hut famously gave Oasis their first record deal and still books strong indie bills. The OVO Hydro is the country's busiest arena outside London. The Barrowlands is on every touring band's wishlist for the floor that bounces. If your group has anyone music-obsessed, this is the trip.

Buchanan Street is the high-street shopping strip, Princes Square (in the centre) is the upmarket arcade, and Livingston Designer Outlet (45 min by train) is the discount shopping option. Bars in Finnieston and the West End for evenings in. Day trip: Loch Lomond, 45 min by train.

Where to stay: for groups, a Merchant City apartment puts you walking distance from everything. Hotelgift's Glasgow inventory covers the Merchant City and West End from around £100/night.

Native Glasgow: With a stay at Native Glasgow, you'll be centrally located in Glasgow, a 1-minute drive from Buchanan Street and 6 minutes from OVO Hydro. This aparthotel is 3.1 mi (4.9 km) from Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre and 3.3 mi (5.2 km) from Hampden Park.

5. Porto, Portugal

girls trip to porto

Great for: wine and walking
Flight time from London: ~2h 35min direct to Porto (OPO) from LGW, LHR, STN and LTN. easyJet, British Airways, Jet2 and TAP all fly the route.

Porto is smaller and easier than Lisbon, with the same architecture and food at lower prices. The headline activity is a port-house tour in Vila Nova de Gaia (the south bank of the Douro), Graham's, Taylor's and Sandeman's all do tastings for €15–25 a head. The Livraria Lello bookshop is genuinely worth the queue if you book a timed slot in advance.

For food: a francesinha (Porto's local toasted sandwich) at Café Santiago is €11. A long lunch at Cantinho do Avillez or any tasca in the Ribeira will run €25–35 a head. The Douro river boat trip is overpriced if you take the standard 50-minute tourist version; book a half-day boat with lunch from Régua instead.

Where to stay: a Ribeira-area apartment for a group of 4–6 is the strongest call (the Ribeira is the river quarter, walkable to everything). Hotelgift's Porto inventory covers boutique hotels in the Baixa and Ribeira from around €110/night.

Eurostars Porto, centrum: With a stay at Eurostars Porto Centro, you'll be centrally located in Porto, steps from Porto Historic Center and 5 minutes by foot from Bolhao Market. This hotel is 0.3 mi (0.5 km) from Livraria Lello and 0.3 mi (0.5 km) from Porto Cathedral.

6. Krakow, Poland

krakow is one of the best girls trip destinations in europe

Great for: a hen do or 30th, on a budget
Flight time from London: ~2h 30min direct to Krakow (KRK) from LTN, STN and LHR. easyJet, Wizz Air and British Airways fly the route.

Krakow is the cheapest hen-do destination in Europe that doesn't feel like a compromise. A round of cocktails in the Old Town is around 60–80 zł (£12–16). Pierogi at Pierogarnia Krakowiacy is 25–35 zł (£5–7). Hotels in the Old Town are 30–40% cheaper than equivalents in Prague or Budapest. The square (Rynek Główny) is the largest medieval square in Europe and lit up at night looks the part.

Beyond the obvious: the Wieliczka Salt Mine (45 min from the city) is a genuinely unusual day trip, chapels carved entirely from salt, 130m underground. Auschwitz-Birkenau is 1.5 hours away if your group wants the historical context; not a casual trip but worth knowing it's accessible.

Where to stay: apartments around the Old Town or in Kazimierz (the former Jewish quarter, now the bar/restaurant district) suit groups well. Hotelgift's Krakow inventory includes boutique hotels in the Old Town from around €70/night.

7. Lanzarote, Spain

parc in lanzarote with cactus
Great for:
winter sun
Flight time from London: ~4h 15min direct to Arrecife (ACE) from LGW, STN, LTN and LHR. easyJet, British Airways, Jet2 and Wizz Air all fly the route.

Lanzarote is the practical winter-sun option for the UK because the Canary Islands stay between 18°C and 22°C all year and there's no regional tourist tax in 2026. Papagayo Beach in the south is the prettiest stretch (white sand, clear water, no resort blocks behind it). Timanfaya National Park is the unmissable day out: the volcanic landscape genuinely doesn't look like anywhere else in Europe, and the geothermal demonstrations at the visitor centre are worth seeing once.

For evenings, Puerto del Carmen is the resort with the most options. Costa Teguise is quieter, more spa-and-pool, and works better for a calmer group. La Geria, the volcanic wine region, does tastings at most vineyards from €15.

Where to stay: for a group, a villa with a private pool in Puerto del Carmen or Playa Blanca. Hotelgift's Lanzarote hotels covers resort hotels and aparthotels from around €90/night.

8. Bordeaux, France

friends in bordeaux on a girls trip

Great for: a wine-focused weekend with style
Flight time from London: ~1h 50min direct to Bordeaux (BOD) from LGW and LCY. British Airways and easyJet both fly the route.

Bordeaux works as the upmarket alternative to Porto: same wine focus, more polished city. The Cité du Vin is the architectural showpiece, a wine museum with a rooftop tasting bar overlooking the Garonne, €22 entry including a glass at the top. The Médoc châteaux tours run 9am–5pm from the city centre, around €100 per person for a full-day with three tastings and lunch.

The Place de la Bourse with the Miroir d'Eau opposite is the city's signature view, especially at dusk when the mirror reflects the 18th-century facade. The Chartrons district is where the wine merchants used to live and is now the bar/restaurant area for evenings. For shopping, the Triangle d'Or covers the high-end labels.

Where to stay: a serviced apartment in the Chartrons or Saint-Pierre district. Hotelgift's Bordeaux inventory covers boutique hotels in the city centre from around €130/night.

9. Tours, France

tours france is one of the best girls trip destinations

Great for: the slow alternative to Bordeaux
Travel from London: Eurostar to Paris (2h 20min from St Pancras), then TGV to Tours (1h 15min). Total ~5 hours door-to-door including connection, from around £130 return booked in advance. No direct flights from London worth taking.

Tours is the unfashionable choice on this list and is included on purpose. It's the gateway to the Loire Valley châteaux, Chenonceau (built across a river), Chambord (the most photographed) and Amboise (Leonardo da Vinci is buried there). A guided day tour from Tours to all three runs €60–80 per person.

The cycling trail along the Loire (the "Loire à Vélo") is flat, well-marked, and runs through the wine villages of Vouvray and Chinon. Bike rentals from €15/day. Les Halles, the covered market, is the best food shop in the region for picking up cheese and bread for picnics.

If your group is more "long lunches and a slower pace" than "beach clubs and bottomless brunch," Tours is the right call. If you want city energy, pick Bordeaux instead.

Where to stay: a self-catering apartment near Place Plumereau (the historic centre square) suits a group. Hotelgift's Tours inventory covers central hotels from around €100/night.

Classy girls' holiday destinations

10. Singapore

singapore is a great choice for a classy girls trip

Great for: the long-haul food trip
Flight time from London: ~13 hours direct to Changi (SIN) from LHR. Singapore Airlines and British Airways fly the route. Time difference: +7 hours.

Singapore is the long-haul destination on this list with the highest practical wins-to-effort ratio. English is the working language, the public transport works, food is consistently excellent at every price point, and the city is small enough to cover in 4 days. Gardens by the Bay (the Cloud Forest dome and Supertree Grove) is the headline attraction; book the dome tickets in advance. Marina Bay Sands SkyPark for sunset drinks is the standard but it works.

For food: hawker centres are the experience to prioritise over the Michelin restaurants. Maxwell Food Centre and Lau Pa Sat are the two to know, a meal of Hainanese chicken rice, char kway teow and a fresh juice runs S$15–20 (£9–12). For one upmarket meal, Burnt Ends does a more interesting menu than the standard tasting-menu options. ATLAS in the Parkview Square building is the best bar in the city for one statement nightcap.

Where to stay: for a group, a serviced apartment in the Tanjong Pagar or Tiong Bahru area is cheaper than equivalent hotels and puts you closer to the food. Hotelgift's Singapore inventory covers Marina Bay and Orchard Road hotels.

Capri By Fraser China Square, Singapore: With a stay at Capri By Fraser China Square, Singapore in Singapore (Downtown Singapore), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Merlion and Raffles Place. This luxury hotel is 1.7 mi (2.8 km) from Gardens by the Bay and 1.7 mi (2.8 km) from Marina Bay Sands Skypark.

11. Miami, USA

book a girls trip to miami

Great for: a winter beach + nightlife trip
Flight time from London: ~9h 30min direct to Miami (MIA) from LHR. British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and American Airlines fly the route. Time difference: -5 hours.

Miami works for a group that wants beach days and serious nightlife in the same trip. South Beach is the beach with the Art Deco buildings behind it; Mid-Beach is calmer and where most of the better hotels are; North Beach is locals and quieter. The water is warm enough to swim from November through April, which is when the weather is best (summer is hot and storm-prone).

For nightlife: LIV at the Fontainebleau is the headline club but it's expensive and you'll queue. The smaller bars in Wynwood (the arts district, 15 minutes from the beach) are usually a better night out for groups under 30. Calle Ocho in Little Havana does the Cuban food and the salsa bars; Versailles is the institution.

For shopping, Bal Harbour Shops (high-end) or the Miami Design District. For one upmarket dinner, Stubborn Seed or The Bazaar by José Andrés.

Where to stay:
Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach by IHG: With a stay at Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach by IHG in Miami Beach (South Beach), you'll be a short 3-minute walk from Lincoln Road Mall and within 2 minutes by car from Collins Avenue Shopping Area. This hotel is 0.9 mi (1.4 km) from Miami Beach Convention Center and 1.2 mi (1.9 km) from Ocean Drive.

12. New York, USA

new york is one of the best girls trip destinations

Great for: a 4-day city break with everything in it
Flight time from London: ~7h 30min direct to JFK or Newark (EWR) from LHR. British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, American, Delta, United and Aer Lingus all fly the route. Time difference: -5 hours.

New York is the most expensive destination on this list per night but the dollar-to-pound rate makes it less punishing than it used to be, and a group of 3–4 splitting an Airbnb in Lower Manhattan can land at roughly the same per-person cost as a Singapore trip.

The brunch culture is genuinely a thing, Jack's Wife Freda, Sadelle's and Russ & Daughters are the safe choices, all bookable. For one upmarket dinner, Carbone is the Instagram option; Don Angie or Lilia in Brooklyn are better food. Broadway tickets via TodayTix or the TKTS booth in Times Square run roughly $80–150 a seat for same-day deals; book the headline shows months in advance.

For drinks: Westlight in Williamsburg or Bar Pisellino in the West Village. For shopping, SoHo over Fifth Avenue (better range, less queueing). Central Park works in any season but October is best for the colours.

Where to stay: a Lower East Side or West Village apartment for a group; for hotels, the Lower Manhattan financial district has the best price-to-location ratio. Hotelgift's New York inventory covers Manhattan hotels.

Smyth Tribeca: With a stay at Smyth Tribeca, you'll be centrally located in New York, within a 10-minute walk of One World Trade Center and The Oculus. This luxury hotel is 0.4 mi (0.6 km) from Brooklyn Bridge and 0.5 mi (0.8 km) from Brookfield Place.

13. Capri, Italy

go to capri on your girls trip

Great for: a 30th or 40th milestone trip
Flight time from London: ~2h 50min direct to Naples (NAP), then 50min ferry to Capri. easyJet and British Airways fly to Naples from LGW and LHR.

Capri is the milestone-birthday destination on this list and is priced accordingly. A meal at any seafront restaurant runs €60–100 a head, a sunbed at La Fontelina is around €50, and the headline hotels (Capri Palace, JK Place) are €700+ a night in season. Worth it for the right occasion.

The non-negotiable activity is a private boat day around the island, €400–600 for a small group of 4–6 for a half-day, including the Blue Grotto if conditions allow (it's weather-dependent and queues badly with the public boats). The chairlift to Monte Solaro from Anacapri is €14 return and gives you the best photo of the trip.

For lunch, Da Paolino is set in a lemon grove and is the photo restaurant; book at least a month in advance. For evening, Anema e Core is a live-music cabaret venue (not a club) where the atmosphere builds over the course of the night, Italian celebrities turn up regularly. Dress code is real.

Where to stay: Capri town for the views and the Piazzetta, Anacapri for cheaper options and quieter mornings. Hotelgift's Capri inventory covers both areas; for a 30th-birthday trip, Anacapri offers better value with the same island access.

14. Santorini, Greece

go on your girls trip to santorini in greece

Great for: the photo trip
Flight time from London: ~3h 50min direct to Santorini (JTR) from LGW and LTN, May–October only. Outside summer season you'll route via Athens.

Santorini is the most photographed island in Europe for good reason but it's also the busiest. The Oia sunset is the famous shot; arrive at least 90 minutes before sunset for a usable spot, or skip it entirely and watch from a restaurant terrace in Imerovigli instead (better light, fewer people).

The volcanic-caldera boat tour with hot springs and a stop at Thirassia is the half-day everyone does, €40–60 a head for the standard option, €150 for a private catamaran. Red Beach is closed for swimming in 2026 due to rockfall risk; Vlychada and Perissa are the practical alternatives, both with black volcanic sand.

For dinner, Metaxi Mas in Exo Gonia is consistently the best meal on the island and books up two months ahead. 1800 in Oia is the "view" dinner; the food is fine, the view is what you're paying for. Koo Club in Fira is the late-night option but the island doesn't really do nightlife in the Mykonos sense.

Where to stay: Oia is the most expensive and the most photographed; Imerovigli is calmer with the same caldera view; Fira is central and best for getting around. Hotelgift's Santorini inventory covers all three.

15. Dubai, United Arab Emirates

friends in dubai on holiday

Great for: a winter long-haul trip with luxury infrastructure
Flight time from London: ~7 hours direct to Dubai (DXB) from LHR, LGW, STN and LTN. Emirates, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Wizz Air all fly the route. Time difference: +4 hours.

Dubai is the long-haul destination that requires the least planning. Everything is air-conditioned, English is universal, and the infrastructure is built for tourists. The Burj Khalifa observation deck (At The Top) is AED 169 (£36) for the standard ticket, book the sunset slot. The Dubai Mall is genuinely worth a half-day, the aquarium inside it for €30 a head.

For beach: Cove Beach at the Caesars Bluewaters is the beach club to know; Nikki Beach is the louder option. For desert, the standard 4×4 dune-bashing safari with a Bedouin-camp dinner is AED 250–400 (£55–85) and gets booked through any hotel. Don't book the cheapest one, the operators using older 4×4s have noticeable issues.

For dinner: Pierchic (on a pier off the Madinat Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab in the background) is the photo restaurant; the food is good, not exceptional. Zuma is more interesting if your group prefers a Tokyo-style izakaya feel. For drinks, the rooftop at FIVE Palm Jumeirah is more reliable than the named clubs (which change names and managers regularly).

Where to stay: Jumeirah Beach Residence for the beach + walkability combination, Downtown Dubai for shopping + Burj views. Hotelgift's Dubai inventory covers both districts.

Ready to book your girls' holiday?

girls on the beach on a girls holiday

The shortest version of this guide: pick the bracket first (cheap, classy, or short-haul), then narrow by occasion using the table. For most UK-based groups, the strongest first-trip pick is Krakow (cheap, easy, photogenic, 2h 30min flight). For a milestone trip, Capri or Bordeaux. For a beach week, Lanzarote in winter or Rhodes in summer. For a long-haul food trip, Singapore.

If your group is split between two of the above, that's exactly what the Flightgift voucher solves.

Can't agree on a destination? Give a Flightgift voucher

the best gift for friends is a holiday voucher for flights

The hardest part of a girls' trip is usually the planning argument. If you're organising a group present (a 30th, a hen do, a graduation), a Flightgift voucher sidesteps the disagreement: the recipient picks the destination, the dates, and the airline. Vouchers are valid for 2 years and redeemable across over 400 airlines, including any of the 15 destinations above.

You can send it as an e-gift card, a PDF for printing, or a physical card shipped worldwide for free. Paired with a Hotelgift voucher, it covers both flights and hotel, useful for milestone-birthday group presents where everyone chips in.
